10 reasons why you will love Bali

Bali ricefield

Bali is always a good idea. I believe everyone should at least once in his or her life experience Bali. There are so many reasons why traveling to Bali will not disappoint you. Here are some of my top ten:

Heartwarming, smiling people
From the island that smiles. Whether they take your order in a Restaurant or greet you with a “Selamat Pagi”, which means good morning in Indonesian, Balinese people always smile at you and there is no better way to start your day than with a smile.

You might see them lying in the streets or at your villa: tiny baskets filled with incense sticks, flowers and treats for the gods. Several times a day Balinese people put offerings out for their gods and the great smell fills the island air. When you first land on the island of gods you will smell this special aroma from the incense sticks and flowers.

Healthy food heaven
Healthy food wherever you go. Whether you want to sip on a green juice or craving an all healthy and colourful salad the choices are unlimited and looking for the best and newest breakfast spot has almost become a tradition for Bali tourists. Read also my post about my favorite healthy breakfast spots.

Nalu Smoothie Bowls
Talking about food. A must try for every Bali visitor is a Nalu Bowl. A delicious smoothie bowl with Acai, fresh fruit, granola or anything else you can dream of.

Beach clubs
Seminyak, Canggu or Uluwatu – Bali has a huge variety of amazing beach clubs. A great way to relax from work is to just sit by a great infinity pool, have a drink and get a tan.

They are pink and amazing. Sipping a coconut and watching a breath taking sunset is a must for all Bali visitors and every time you think that it can’t get prettier, but it does anyway. Bali sunsets are just amazing.

Bali Sunset

One of Bali’s most distinctive landmarks are the rice fields and they look better then any postcard could show. If you drive form the coast towards Ubud you find them everywhere and you can see the hard working Balinese people with their round triangle shaped hat working in the fields.

Surf (ers)
There are some amazing surf spots in Bali and there is a wave for everyone. As a pro-surfer, you find some great spots for your daily surf, but also if you are a newbie. Take a lesson in Kuta or Seminyak, where the waves are a little smaller or just watch all surfers in Canggu while sipping a coconut.

Yoga and meditation
You feel the spirituality the minute you land in Bali. Finding a place with good yoga or amazing meditation classes is easy in Bali and there are so many variations that you will want to stay even longer. Must visit places for all Yogis are Ubud and Canggu. Read all about my favorite yoga places in Canggu in my post.

Bali has a large number of Waterfalls all unique and beautiful in their own way. Either they are huge, surrounded by lush greens or you can swim in the natural rocket pools. You can find waterfalls with easy or hike to more hidden places. Swimming in a natural pool surrounded by nature: Bali paradise!

Islands exploring
Bali is surrounded by lots of other amazing Islands. Whether you want to take a snorkeling or diving trip on the Gillis, explore less touristy Islands with your scooter or relax at amazing beaches, Bali is close to many different and beautiful Islands. My favorite Island Nusa Lembongan is only a 30 minutes boat ride away and offers white sand, blue water, and untouched places.

Ahhh I love Bali! Everyone we met in Bali were really nice and very helpful. Well except for one experience on the market where the guy kept on asking us to buy from his store. I hope to go back to Bali soon 🙂

I love that there are healthy food options everywhere. I often find it difficult to eat healthy when I’m traveling, so it’s nice that I can eat healthy even when I eat out. And your photo of the sunset looks amazing!

I went to Bali many years ago and have so many great memories. I agree on everything you have listed, like the little offerings that you see everywhere on the street, the beautiful colours of the rice fields, the great food. One other things that I found memorable to the island was the music. You hear so much traditional music while walking down the streets, I don’t know if it is still like this?

    November 27, 2016 at 9:16 am
    • Reply Blonde Seashell

Dear Sabine. Yes this is still like that if you are outside of the tourist areas. Where I live I hear it every day and it is very lovely.

Bali is just amazing! I love it here so much and agree with all your points. One more to add: worldclass scuba diving. The area from Padangbai to Tulamben offers something for every diver and is a great place to take beginners courses as well.

We have been in Bali for over two months now and really love it. We had been to Ubud 8 years ago and when we arrived this time our hearts sank. The roads are so busy and there are so many tourists and high end boutique shops. This is not how we remembered peaceful ubud. However we found a place just outside ubud, located in rice fields and palm trees and we love it. We feel so relaxed. You are right about the people here. We will be sad to leave their smiles and warm welcomes. We heave truly fallen in love with Bali.
