Canggu Accommodation: Where to stay in Bali!

canggu accommodation

Where should I stay when I come to Canggu? This is the question I get asked the most! That’s why I decided to put a list together for you guys. You can read about which Canggu Accommodation I stayed when I first came to Bali (and sometimes still do for a little staycation) and what friends recommended to me.

Bloomfield Umalas

This is my absolute favorite place! I stayed here several times!

Located between Seminyak and Canggu it is away from all the hustle and bustle and a little oasis to relax. This Boutique Hotel has my dream interior design, two pools and a view on the rice fields.

I also love the restaurant and the inside area to read or take some Insta pics.

This hotel is usually booked out so make sure you check prices and availability by clicking here.

The Appartements Umalas & Canggu

Another Insta-Worthy spot! A Canggu accommodation for those who want to stay in a villa, but couldn’t find anything cool from private owners.
You can choose between different villa-styled rooms with or without your own kitchen. Some of the rooms even have a private pool and the others have a shared pool.

The apartments have two locations on both sides of the short cut.
The Canggu location is a bit closer to the main street “Batu Bolong” whereas the Umalas location is quieter and you reach Seminyak fast, which I prefer ( I stayed in both locations).

If you stay in the Umalas location you need a motorbike to get around because there are no restaurants in walking distance (yet).

Click here for the Umalas Location
and here for the Canggu Appartements

FRII Hotel

Right near Echo beach. A cool spot for meeting other people. The rooms are not too big but very nice I suggest get one without direct access to the pool so it’s a bit quieter and people can’t see into your room.

This is the perfect location if you want walking distance to the beach, cafes, and shops.
The prices are also very good. Check them out here.

Here are some places in Canggu my friends stayed at and recommend.
Since I haven’t stayed in the following accommodations I haven’t seen the rooms, but only heard good things about them.

Tugu Hotel Canggu

On my bucket list! (Take a look at these pics and you’ll understand why!) In short, it’s a luxury hotel, built and decorated in traditional Indonesian style, right at the beach. Click here for pictures and prices.

A bit less expensive but right next to Tutu (also right next to the famous bar “Old mans”) is the newish Aston Hotel with a great rooftop pool.
Check it out here.

Sun Flower Surf and Stay

For those who are on a budget, but still want some fancy decor. The location is also for those who don’t feel comfortable renting a motorbike and want a place walking distance to the beach, cafes and shops. Find prices and pictures of this cute location here.

What to consider when choosing your Canggu Accommodation:

  • Location: When you choose where to stay in Bali make sure that you are located in the center of Canggu especially if you are a woman, traveling alone. Driving home alone on your scooter can be dangerous.
  • Does your Canggu Accommodation offer any additional services? It’s always helpful if someone can organize a scooter for you. You don’t really need breakfast included because there are soooo many amazing spots to eat breakfast. Check out my favorite places here.
  • Is transport from the airport included? If not make sure you don’t pay more than IDR 250k each way.

So peaceful, so quite, so private…
I can imagine that once being on Bali, these kind of Resorts are the best way to enjoy a relaxing and luxury stay. Rama Village looks really amazing to me.

Your tips on what to consider when selecting the accommodation are really helpful. I will come back to this post when I plan my trip to Bali. However, I also liked that pool very much 🙂

We were thinking about staying at Rama last time we were in Bali. Too bad we didn’t. It sounds lovely. If you stayed there a whole month, it must be so comfortable and livable. We’ll check it our next time were in Canggu.

Hey Rachel thanks so much for your lovely words. Yes there are a tone of Facebook groups out there like “canggu housing” etc. You can also just post in canggu community or go with an agent there are many website. Usually you don’t get the best price with an agent but mostly a nicer one 🙂 I highly suggest being on place before you agree to anything. Hope that helps 🙂
