10 Best Cafes in Canggu for Breakfast

Breakfast Canggu

Breakfast in Canggu is like a morning ritual and there are so many amazing places to go – you never run out of options.  After living here for while I have of course some favorite places. I only recommend places where I personally go on a regular basis.

Here are the places where the morning magic happens:

Avocado Cafe

My all time favorite is located in the heart of Canggu on Batu Bolong. If you are looking for healthy food and want to be sure that you get organic products and the food is washed with filtered water, this is the place to go. I know the owner very well and having quality products from local frames is one thing that is really important to her. At Avocado you will find vegan, gluten free and even paleo option. Make sure you once try a sweet potato waffle it is my favorite dish on the menu either with Avocado or fruits and honey.

Shady Shack

Vegetarian meals and vegan options with colorful juices: The Shady Shack is a place situated behind Deus, which means also right in the center of Canggu. I always have a berry crush there, because I just love that it is all pink (dragon fruit yay) and the vanilla makes it sweet but not too much. If you are lucky enough to get one of the comfy seats, you can look into the rice fields, enjoy the nice breeze and sip your smoothie – that’s one of my favorite writing spots.

Crate

The place to be for all hipsters – which I am clearly not, but the food at Crate is great and it’s worth going and do some people watching. 🙂 Have a chicken halloumi salad, make sure you leave your business card under one of the glass tables and of course, don’t forget to take a picture of your food. Crate is located on Batu Bolong just on the left side when you are driving towards the beach.

Betelnut

Before Shady Shack there was Betelnut. Run by the same owner this place was famous first. I love their healthy colorful smoothie bowls for breakfast and I also go there a lot for dinner. This two-story building with rice field view is located just before Crate and opposite Deus – a perfect spot.

Peloton

Vegan friends this is the place for you to go. Everything on the menu is completely vegan, no bacon no eggs. The interior design of the two-story building, located on the intersection Jalan Pantai Berawa (near Canggu club), is bright, edgy and stylish. I love their wraps and all the dessert because I don’t have to think about whether they contain dairy or not.

Milk and Madu

This place is popular for a reason and located just a few meters after Peloton on Jalan Pantai Berawa. Great food, amazing coffee and on top of that you can get a Nalu Bowl. I think I had almost every dish on their breakfast menu but I mostly go for the zucchini omelet with goat cheese and a flat white.

Cinta

Still, on Jalan Pantai Berawa and after Milk and Madu there is Cinta Cafe. How about a stunning rice field view while eating a Nutella crepè for breakfast? That’s always a good way to start your morning in Canggu. At Cinta Cafe, my choice is usually the grilled Avocado with feta cheese because I don’t tolerate lactose but if one of my friends is having the crepès I always have to taste. Their mantra is: Whatever you do, do it with love!

Bungalow Cafe

Where my boho shopping heart beats faster. This cafe has not only good food it is also a concept store mostly with home wear. That means while you drink your coffee you see all the nice decoration accessories, the cute little journals and bracelets. Needless to say that I can’t go as much as in the beginning, as I always left with something new. You find Bungalow Cafe after you drive a litter further away from Canggu Club after Peloton.

Sprout

There was a time where I went there every day. This place right, after the short cut road in Berawa, has a nice and quite atmosphere, great AC, amazing coffee and friendly staff. Make sure you try the kale pesto folded omelet – its color is all green. 🙂 I usually come for breakfast with my computer and stay the whole morning and have lunch there too, because it’s so comfy.

Eden Cafe

Almost at the end of Batu Bolong, there is this cute little spot. I recently just found out that they also have a room with AC, always good to know. The prices are amazing and they have vegan and gluten free pancakes. Healthy and super yummy!

This is so fun! Thanks for sharing. Your writing is so visual I can almost picture the quaint little shops. Have a suggestion when the best time to go is? Is the summer really as miserable as I have heard?
